Fitzrovia BID promotes dead pub for halloween

Ghost pubs and ghost brains. The Fitzrovia BID never cease in their ability to drive more nails in their own coffin. The marketing people from hell have once again turned Fitzrovia’s unloved business improvement district into a laughing stock — this time it is by promoting events at a pub that has long closed.

Northumberland Arms.

Promoted for Halloween. But The Northumberland Arms Goodge Street closed two years ago.

In the latest newsletter from The Fitzrovia Partnership Business Improvement District they promise a “spooktacular Fitzrovia”. One of the “best things to do in Fitzrovia this halloween” is to order a spooky ale including a “Gangly Ghoul” or a “Hobgoblin” at the Northumberland Arms in Goodge Street. They even provide a handy link to the pub’s website.

The trouble is, the pub closed two years ago and the website is all that remains. Spooky, indeed.

Perhaps they meant to refer to the new pub on the corner of Charlotte Street and Goodge Street called the Draft House, or the other Northumberland Arms in Tottenham Court Road?

Earlier this year the Fitzrovia BID were suggesting taking mothers out on Mother’s Day for meals at restaurants in Fitzrovia that were closed.

Maybe those undead zombies in a dark basement in Fitzroy Street need to get out and about in the daylight and have a look around like normal people do?
