Historic piece of Great Titchfield Street goes under the hammer, literally

A historic piece of Fitzrovia goes under the hammer today, literally, as workmen smash the multi breasted caryatids that support the front of Efes restaurant in Great Titchfield Street.

Builders demolishing front of restaurant.

The sculpted female figures in front of Efes Restaurant in Great Titchfield Street are broken up by builders ahead of refurbishment.

The well-known Turkish restaurant is closed for refurbishment until further notice says a sign in the window. I managed to grab a head, but couldn’t manage to carry a many breasted chest.
