By News Reporters Members of the Fitzrovia Trust put on their gardening gloves on Friday to plant new shrubs in the Fitzrovia Children's Playground in Whitfield Street for an autumn horticulture session. The improvements to the gardens were carried out ahead of the Teddy Bears' Picnic which is to be held on Saturday 5 October at the playground.

Trust members Sue Blundell, Barbara Corr, Colin Bascom and Toks Osanife organised the replanting of the gardens. They were helped with digging the gardens by Bruce, Stefano and Zari from construction firm Sir Robert McAlpine, and Linus from the Fitzrovia Neighbourhood Association. The plants were paid for from a grant awarded by Derwent London.

The Playground is on a site acquired by the Fitzrovia Trust in 2007. The Trust hold the whole site on a lease from Camden, and sublet the building to the London Early Years Foundation who run the Fitzrovia Nursery. The Fitzrovia Trust is a registered charity and buys property in Fitzrovia to provide housing and facilities to benefit the local community.
