Frederick Cayley Robinson’s Acts of Mercy paintings which used to hang in the foyer of the since demolished Middlesex Hospital, Mortimer Street, Fitzrovia, will go on public display at the National Gallery. Local people and Fitzrovia News campaigned to save the beautiful paintings which were due to be sold off by University College London NHS Trust.
The four paintings were then acquired by the Welcome Library and are housed in their building on Euston Road. But for three months from 14 July they will be loaned to the National Gallery, Trafalgar Square.
